A Glimmer Of Hope, Joy And Renewal

It caught me completely by surprise.

I stepped into my backyard and took a deep breath to connect with God in preparation for the coming day.

My body and my senses were primed for another winter morning, anticipating the cold bite of the air and the sight of my breath in the crisp atmosphere.

I looked around at the familiar landscape—the leafless trees standing against the pale sky and the brown, dormant grass beneath my feet.

Then I turned my head, and there it was…

Amidst this wintry scene, a tiny glimmer of green peeking through the ground.

It was very subtle at first—almost imperceptible, but then, very quickly, I began to feel my heart warm up with a joyful sense of hope and renewal.

I then took another deep breath, and with a wide smile now on my face, I turned my heart to God and heard him say:

“Yes, my son…”

No more words were needed.

With this kind and loving gift this early morning, God was speaking to places very deep in my soul where I somehow had come to believe that winter would never go away.

Where without a conscious thought, my hardships and challenges had been standing before me like unconquerable giants.

And where just like David, without even knowing, I had come to believe that God had simply turned his face from me.

“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?

How long will my enemy triumph over me?”
— Psalm 13:1-2

Perhaps you can relate.

Perhaps there are places in your heart where all feels lost.

Places in your life where you have tried and tried, and prayed and prayed, and yet there seems to be no change.

Where to the cold winter there seems to be no end.

To those places within you, I hope that this becomes that tiny glimmer of green that peeks through the ground of your soul today.

That it may remind you that a new season is coming.

And that as you look beyond what has been, and into all that with God will be, you too may experience the warmth and the bright colors of the joy, hope and renewal that he has in store for you.

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
— Isa 43:18-19

Spring is coming, friends.

Yes, life wins.

God wins.

Much love,

Pablo
