EPIC ADVENTURE

Join us as we continue our conversation about adventure. This time we’re diving deeper into the third and final category of adventure, as defined by our mentor Bart Hansen: Epic Adventure.

KEY THOUGHTS

  • The concept of Epic Adventure typically evokes ideas of extreme sports or other dangerous activities, but instead, Bart Hansen proposes that Epic Adventures are those adventures we get into when we risk love.

  • The greatest risk God invites us into is the risk of exposing our hearts. Making our hearts vulnerable to receive love or to bring love to those around us.

  • "This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends.”
    (John 15:13 MSG)

  • Epic Adventures are available for every man, every day, and the more we become the man God created us to be, the more we can engage in Epic Adventure.

  • As Bart Hansen says “When a man has become all that God meant for him to be, every day is an adventure”.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

We encourage you to pause and take the time to reflect on each one of these questions individually and with your FIRETEAM.

  1. What Epic Adventure is God inviting you into in these season?

  2. Is there a difficult conversation that God is inviting you to have?

  3. Where in your life is God inviting you to risk in love?

  4. How can you begin to risk in love with the people under your care? Your wife? Your kids?

  5. Is there a love-based mission God is inviting you to be a part of?

PRAYER

Jesus, thank you for risking it all for me. Thank you for modeling how a true man can love from a whole heart and risk everything on behalf of those he loves. I confess that many times I choose to seek comfort and security when you’re asking me to risk in love. I open my heart for you to work in union with me to bring your Kingdom on behalf of those you’ve placed under my care. I ask for eyes to see - show me how I can share with others the love that you have poured out on me.
