Things can be different

Things can be different

The issues with your marriage that you’d rather not think or talk about.  The long-standing addiction that you feel ashamed of and that you’ve tried to get rid of for so long.  The repressed anger that blows up against your children for something rather small.  That sense of defeat after the meeting that speaks about how things will never change...

Oh, those things can change... And that’s precisely what God is after.

However, the change you seek, the long-lasting transformation that you long for will not come from “behavior modification techniques”.  It won’t come from quick tips or band-aid approaches.  And I think you know it - you have tried hard, after all.

The reality is that most of those issues are not actually the problem but the symptom, the fruit.  And by trying to get rid of the symptom or to force ourselves to try to produce a different type of fruit, we end up burning ourselves out and eventually confirming the lie that things will never change.

But what if it was possible to go to the root of the problem instead of dealing with the symptom.  What if we could completely uproot that old tree and plant new seeds that produce the fruit we long for?

It can be done.  This is precisely what God is inviting you to.  To bring you back home, to transform you into the man that He meant when He meant you.  But it requires accepting Jesus' invitation to a journey of restoration.  It requires walking by His side and excavate, dig deep.  It requires giving Him access to the wounded places of your heart to bring healing.  And it requires standing firm with Him against the lies that have been spoken over you for decades.

The fruit will be much more than anything you can ask for or imagine.  Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness.  All of this and much more flowing constantly from the depths of a heart that has come fully alive.  From your heart.

If this was possible, would you want it?

“Jesus, I do.  I want it.  Would you come and restore my life?  Would you transform me into the man you thought of when you created me?  Take me on this journey.  Restore my heart.  Restore my life.  You have my Yes.”
